Essex
County Flatwater/Basic Canoeing Courses![]()
This course is designed to improve skills of paddlers from novice to experienced. Manoeuvre your canoe with skill and confidence. Safe canoeing practices, equipment knowledge and resources will give you excellent background to canoe with family and friends.

Canadian Style Paddling
The ORCKA Canadian Style Paddling 1 course was formerly called ORCKA Lakewater 1. Read more about ORCKA canoe courses.
This two-day ORCKA course in Windsor is for competent paddlers who want to perfect their skills and enjoy the thrill of canoeing with precision. Candian Style Paddling is for persons who want to be especially proficient padlers for the fun of it or if the person is looking to be an ORCKA Basic Instructor. Pre-requisite is ORCKA Basic Certification. Advanced paddling skills are mastered for more precision.

Week-Long Canoe Trips for all Skill Levels
Our Leaders are certified by the Ontario Recreational Canoeing and Kayaking Association as Instructors. All group camping equipment, food, maps and logistics are provided. However, you may use your personal equipment if it is acceptable. Instruction in Canoe Tripping with official recognition is included, if desired, on any trip.
Each trip is priced depending on the time, logistics required and the equipment used.
The Historic Mattawa River, North Bay to Mattawa
The Mattawa River is an easy river trip that includes Champlain Provincial Park. It is the traditional route from Lake Nipissing to the Ottawa River used by the fur traders and native peoples for centuries.

French River
Enjoy a week-long outdoor trip on the French River which in one of the best paddling area of Ontario. Navigation, paddling and camping skills are emphasized while enjoying the historic waterway of Champlain and the Voyageur fur traders of long ago.
The ORCKA Canoe Tripping 1 certificate is available.

Killarney Provincial Park Back Country
Not available in 2011.
Join us for our annual breathtakingly beautiful commune with nature at its colourful best – the red Maples contrasting with the white quartzite rock of the LaCloche mountain range on the northeastern shore of Georgian Bay. We hike to some exceptional lookouts "above the treeline" where we can see Manitoulin Island and many small lakes below. The ORCKA Canoe Tripping 1 or 2 Certification is available on this trip.
Long Weekend Canoe Trips for all Skill Levels

Massasauga Provincial Park Long Weekend
A favourite trip for all paddlers who need a long weekend away from the cares of home. The islands and coastline of Georgian Bay provide an unlimited variety of sheltered waterways and excellent campsites for great swimming and paddling. Perfect for new canoe trippers or experienced paddlers to explore a new provincial park.
