Our Mission

Canada South Outdoors Inc. was conceived by a group of friends who wished to share their experiences in the out-of-doors. Our goal is to help others appreciate and protect the natural world in a safe, enjoyable, knowledgeable and challenging manner. To accomplish this, Canada South stresses safety, knowledge and skills in all of its teaching programs and trips.

Our Services

We are pleased to involve individuals and/or groups in any of our projects.

Groups may request a personalized trip of their own choosing. Everyone learns canoe trip planning skills.

We provide all group equipment, supplies, food and certified leadership; personal gear lists are provided and explained.

We provide a consultation service for those wishing advice about an outdoor activity.

We have access to a 34-foot (11m) Voyageur Canoe for up to 16 people on local Essex County waters and on large rivers like the French River. Paddlers experience a special camaraderie in this historic mode of Canadian travel and learn about the fur trade in early Canada.

Policies

Reservation

Your reservation will include a deposit of $25. The balance is due three weeks before the start of the program. When we receive the deposit, we will mail a receipt and detailed information.
Prior to participating in any program or trip, you will be required to complete a standard Assumption of Risks and Release, and Personal Information forms.

Cancellation

There is a $25 administration charge applied to any cancellation refund. Prior to the full payment (three weeks before departure), all monies will be refunded except the administration fee.
From the full payment date to departure, a full refund (less the administration fee) will only be made if you/we find a suitable replacement.
We reserve the right to cancel any trip or program within 14 days' notice. In this case all monies paid will be refunded.
CSO may change the itinerary of a trip based on current conditions.

Ontario Recreational Canoeing and Kayaking Association

Canada South Outdoors is an Organisational Member of the Ontario Recreational Canoeing and Kayaking Association, the provincial and national certifying organisation for recreational canoeing in Canada. Our qualified Instructors offer certification in flatwater paddling, locally and at remote locations, and canoe tripping on any of our trips. These designations are often required for persons seeking outdoor leadership positions and more advanced paddling courses.
